How can I portray and preserve my childhood memories using sculpture? My work explores the preservation of memories and the change in them that comes with age. My use of paper and card stock shows the delicacy of the memory and how our perceptions of these events can be fragile. I alter details to idealize the memory to make it the way I want it to be seen. The items or colors are sophisticated to make a memory more mature and relatable to the stage of life I am in currently. Along the way, I explore memories that I feel are very personal but also are universal experiences. Many can relate to birthday parties or dyeing eggs on Easter so my body of work is both individualized and very common.
